African-American Inventors/Inventions from 1800 to 2011

Ladies, Gentlemen, Teens & Children:
Here is my blog on African-American Inventors & Inventions from 1800 - 2011 (courtesy of "thegrio.com, black-collegian.com & blackinventor.com")Wow, I had no idea about alot of these Inventions, somebody being Lying to us!! WTF!! SMH!! This should be TAUGHT Everyday and NOT JUST during Black-History Month. Please let your Children & Grandchildren read this blog so that they will know that their Culture, Inventions, & Leadership have ALWAYS had a GIANT IMPACT on America & the American Way of Life. 1) Joshua Williams (2002- ), Created "Joshua's Heart Foundation" to feed homeless people in Miami, FL. His foundation feeds over 400 families/month. Asked why he started it, he said "because I want All Kids to be FULL like me".


1.5) Amiya Alexander (1999- ) Created/designed the FIRST "Rolling Dance Studio", called "Amiya's Mobile Dance Academy".  She's 12 yrs old, from Detroit, and her classes include ballet, jazz, hip-hop & salsa. The bus travels from community to community giving dance lessons to 2-12 yr olds.





2) Lonnie G. Johnson (1949 - ) Former NASA Engineer, he co-invented & patented the World Famous "Super Soaker Water Gun (1991). It has sold over 200 million worldwide.




3) Henry T. Sampson (1934- ) Invented the FIRST cell phone, it was called a Gamma-Electrical Cell Phone (1968).
4) Kevin Clash (1960- )  Born in Baltimore, MD, he has been the VOICE of Elmo on Sesame Street for more than 20 years.


5) Kevin Wolfork (19xx- )  Invented the Hamster Workout Wheel that  records the hamsters mileage and wheel revolutions.


6) Mark Dean (1957- ) Invented the 1 Gigahertz (1 Gig) Chip (1984). This chip has over a million transistors and it's potential is unlimited.


7) Chef George Crum (1822-1914)  -  Created the First Potato Chips - 1841. Chef George Crum made thickly cut, French fried potatoes. A customer complained that the fries were too thick to eat, so Chef Crum began slicing the potatoes as thin as he possibly could, frying them and sending the crunchy brown chips back out to the guest. The guest loved the crisps. They soon gained popularity and were called Crum's House, each table came with a basket of potato chips. Crum never patented or attempted to distribute his potato chips, but has been credited as the creator of the widely popular snack. 


7.5) Patricia Bath (1942 - ) Invented the "Cataract Laserphaco Probe (1988)", used  for Laser Removal of Cataracts.
7.6) Marie Van Brittan-Brown (1922-1999), Invented the FIRST Home Security System (1968). It was called "Closed-Circuit Television Security System".


7.7) Joseph R. Winters (1859-1934), Invented the FIRST Wagon-Mounted Fire Escape Ladder (1878).
    
7.8) Benjamin Banneker (1731-1806), Invented the FIRST Clock (made of wood), created the Farmer's Almanac's, and was able to successfully predict Solar Eclipses.

8) Madame C. J. Walker (1867-1919), Invented Madam Walkers Wunderful Hair Grower, Invented Hair Straighting Comb and is best know as the First Black Woman Millionare.



9) Dr. Daniel Hale Williams (1867-1919), performed the First Open-Heart Surgery (1893).



10) Dr. Charles Drew (1904-1950), Invented the First Blood Bank, a place for storing Blood Plasma.


11) Elijah McCoy (1844-1929), Had over 57 patents for inventions, but best know for Inventing a "Cup that Fed Lubricating Oil to a Machine Engine".





12)  Frederick M. Jones (1893-1961), Invented the "Automatic Refrigeration System" for Long Haul Transportation  & invented the First Air Conditioner.


13) Garrett Morgan (1877-1963), Invented the Gas Mask (1916) & the First Traffic Signal (1923).
14) George Washington Carver (1864-1943), Discovered over 300 ways to use Peanuts & over 100 ways to use Soy Beans, Pecans & Sweet Potatoes. Also, invented the machine to create Peanut Butter.


15) Granville T. Woods (1856-1910), Invented Steam Boiler Furnace, Synchronous Multiplex Railway Telegraph (communication between trains - 1887), "Eletric Railway System" (1892- grandfather to subway train system, Auto Air-Brake to slow or stop trains.



16) Jan Ernst Matzeliger (1852-1889), created a machine, called "Shoe Lasting Machine", to attach Shoes & Soles faster.



18) Robert Flemming Jr, (1857-????), secured the First Patent for the creation of the Guitar (1886).




19) Rufus Stokes (1924- ) Invented the FIRST Air-Humidifier.





Here are MANY, MANY more African-American Inventions. Wow!!!! Somebody being LYING to US!!!  WTF!!!  SMH!!!
